Day 2 Thursday Oct 13, 2016 VA to GA

Our second day of the trip began early and after a good breakfast at the Comfort Suites in Wytheville we rolled out at 7:30... an early out record for us.

Up and at 'em, packed and ready to roll.
And we rolled directly into the sunrise making navigation difficult for a bit.  The sun was so bright coming over the hills of Virginia it was blinding.  Some judicial use of the small visors in the Morgan and the brim on a baseball cap helped to navigate our way around the bends.

Our route today was all interstate highways at mid-70's speeds.  We stopped at a truck stop near Winnsboro S.C. for a Wendy's lunch... probably the worst Wendy's we've ever been too.... rude counter people who mumble and mixed up the order.   But, hey, we kept smiling and enjoyed a Frosty too.

Again the car attracted more attention and photos.
The further south we went the more we saw remnants of hurricane Matthew.  There were many trees and signs bent and toppled, lots of storm debris along the road.  But traffic remained hurried for the most part.  A couple of slow downs due to minor accidents and construction, but no major delays.  Interesting too were the number of electrical service and tree service bucket trucks and heavy machinery headed north.  I saw an Ohio Edison truck from Ohio.  Good for you guys and gals to get this region back up and running in such quick order.

Matthew's remains.
Our arrival in Savannah about 3:30 gave us time to clean the car a bit and get organized for the Mog South meeting we will start tomorrow in Winter Haven.

A bit later the gang from North Carolina arrived.   We planned to join up with them for the last leg into Winter Haven, and happy we were to see them.  They had just gone through the onslaught of Matthew in their home towns and experienced a great deal of regional flooding in NC.  We were afraid it might have jeopardized their participation in this Florida trip, but they came through unscathed. Their trip to Savannah was routine and with no issues.  Great to see them again, and we are delighted to be traveling with them.

And our Morgan's, ready for another day on the road tomorrow.

Tomorrow, off to Winter Haven and the Mog South meeting.
